The other night, I was at an event with a number of people and the group got to talking about how banks are the most sophisticated marketers out there - but the connotation of the word "sophisticated" in that context wasn't to say that banks had complex or intricate marketing systems, but rather, that they are deceptive and misleading. I kept my mouth shut…at first.

Typically when I hear people complain about the modern terms like Social Media, I immediately tune out because most often, it feels like they are attempting to sound intelligent simply by being contrarian. That said, this morning I heard the term challenged again, but the speaker, Jesse Hirsh, had a fairly decent argument for challenging it in
There are many different strategies you could take in advertising a product or service, but all of them fall under one of two categories: self-promotion or service. The key difference surrounds listening. Self-promotion is characterized by statements like: “This is my product/service, it’s great, you should buy it”.
