As a leader, there are a million things that need your attention. You have your team to care for, important decisions to make, challenges to navigate and a mission to execute. It’s easy to ruminate on what your organization needs next and what you’re going to do to make it happen.
My encouragement to you is: stop and pray.
In Colossians 4:2, Paul writes, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Prayer isn't meant to be an afterthought in our work. It's an invitation to bring every part of it before God.
Pray for the people you serve. Pray over the decisions you need to make. Pray for the vision he has given to you and your team.
And pray for yourself. Ask the Lord to sustain you, renew you and remind you of your passion for building his kingdom.
It’s good to plan carefully — as a chronic list-maker and over-thinker, I like a good plan — but this work doesn’t start with a plan. It starts with God opening doors, stirring hearts and making a way for ministry to happen. This work belongs to God.
You don't have to have every answer or carry the weight of every outcome. Bring your ministry to God in prayer and trust Him with what comes next.
Before you move on to your next task, take a moment to pray for your ministry today.
